So how much would this project cost to finish yourself?
Thanks for the advice. I totally didn’t think of that. I will vent the enclosure just as you said.
Also if it’s not a sealed battery (if it’s a lead acid car type that vents) make sure you create a vent with PVC from the enclosure top you have around the sump – or put the battery on a shelf outside the enclosure to vent into the room or you risk building hydrogen gas and when the pump kicks in it could be a bad, bad thing. I know how much work you are putting into this project, I do all my own work too- just added an office addition to my standalone garage and reroofed, rebuilt, etc – whew.
Way ahead of you man… A battery backup was the very first thing I did in this remodel. To not do this is to invite disaster!
You need to invest in a high quality battery backup sump pump now that you have all that invested into a basement unless you want a finished swimming pool. It may have been dry since it was built but one year of more than usual rain combined with a power outage and it’s all ruined.
Hope you get Part 3 up soon man!
Good fortune to you too- I pray that your remodel is a success.
The basement is now complete- I’ve just been too lazy to post the next update.
Well I hope the best for you and your basement, I am doing so, but I’m just making it a new bedroom for myself. I can’t wait until you finally put another update on it (if so), and I hope 2009 brings you more good fortune.
I don’t understand the question.
Many people use their basements to store junk and exercise equipment they never use, and choose keep a huge area of their house musty, cold and unusable.
It is more practical in my opinion to make it usable living space.
This is definitely nice and all, but why in the basement?
Hmm I just thought of something. Did you decide to put any lights in or on the Soffit? That would be rather interesting, especially for the kitchen.
wow man, you’ve really been working hard then. I don’t think I would have the patience to do all this. Talk about a do-it-yourselfer!
I did this all myself, except the carpet.
Carpet is now done. If I have time, I’ll have part III up tonight. Thanks for your patience.
Carpet coming soon. I’ll have an update very, very soon.
You did say the Utility Room is staying unfinished, but was that the room in the “completed” state?
cool deal, now from what I have seen and heard in your videos, are you doing this all yourself?
Thanks for asking. I’m due for another video update, I know. The basement is almost complete. What I’ve done since this video:
1. Finished Drywall
2. Painted the Walls & Ceilings
3. Installed Kitchen Cabinets
4. Installed Tile wall and countertop in kitchen
5. Installed Drop Ceiling/Recessed Lights
6. Trim and Doors
I’ll try to get another update out there in the next week.
hey ajag, how much is now done since this video, just curious.
PART 3 PART 3 PART 3!
PART 3 PART 3 PART 3!
oh ok.
Nope- I shot this vid only a week ago. This is the basement in its current state.
Do you have a video of it completed yet?
