I highly recomend this product. Also this the second Wayne pump

This may be the wrong solution for a residential sump. The discharge port is a whopping 1.5″ diameter and there exists no adapter that would make it fit my discharge hose, which is much smaller. However, I learned that I could easily convert a regular, 1/6 HP utility pump into an automatic sump pump simply by adding a tethered float switch. No hose adapter needed because the pump discharge is the right size to begin with.
I wish I had known all this before purchasing the product. I was able to return this pump with no hassle, but it is a heavy beast, costly to ship.

The pump looks very high quality and evacuated the sump pit very quickly. I prefer the float switch over the tethered system. Installation is easy, ignore the manual, the best instructions are right on the box.
I was disappointed when I saw the same pump at the local Farm & Fleet for $90 instead of $115 from here.

I bought one of these 12 years ago and it still worked, but the shut of switch quit. I decided not to fix that, get a new one, not only did it get used for the cockpot in basement, but the washing machine was run through the cockpot so the sump pump got a good work out every day. Don’t buy the pedestal type, they only last 1 or 2 years, the submersible pumps are the way to go, very dependable and will last for years.

I like the pump design I have had both ACE and Wayne 1/3 and 1/2 HP pumps. There are two problems – switch life is 2 years or less depending how often its used. The float rod is regular steel and rusts causing the float to stick, which causes the pump to stay on or off. I can’t figure why Wayne would make a great pump with lousy parts. Yup I can typical American manufacturer; no life testing and poor quality control. Recommend you stay away from Wayne pumps. Remember you don’t need the pump when its dry – they fail when you need them the most, in a rain storm at 2 pm or when your on vacation, again stay away from these Wayne pumps. They have known about these design flaws for years and done nothing about it.
